Panchayat
Elappara is a village and a panchayat in Peerumedu taluk of Idukki district in the Indian state of Kerala. Situated at an altitude of about 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) above sea level, the area enjoys a pleasant climate. Famous for its vast tea estates, Elappara offers visitors a wonderful experience. Before the settlement of Elappara, the town of Elappara was established, the market was located in nearby Bonami. A few years ago, as part of the global plague, the Bonami area was also affected by the plague, and the British planters of the time kept the infected people in one place and doused them with petrol at night to control the plague.
